Black Woman

Poetry

My neighbor sleeps

Black hair, curly plastered

On forehead

Large bulbous eyes closed

As baby at night

I am unaware of the time

She wears a black shirt

Draped lightly over red dress

Sequins glint in faded

Lights reflecting like faint

Stars in city night

Hands black callous clasped

Diamond on her finger

Mumbles in French

A continuing flight
